The Mystic Film Festival keeps growing and 2022 did not disappoint! There were numerous opportunities to mingle with other screenwriters and filmmakers. I made a couple of great friends in Producer/Director Lynda Reiss and Screenwriter Jana Brown and enjoyed their short film Perfect Match at the Women In Comedy Short Films and Networking event.
In addition to catching several film screenings, I soaked up five workshops and panels, including a screenwriting panel/Q&A with Peter and Jason Filardi, former Connecticut natives who have written successful films, including Flatliners. In another session, Andrew Gernhard, President of Synthetic Cinema International and Kate Eisemann, Head of Production at TheLocations.com shared some insightful tips on scouting locations, especially in Connecticut. Our state is more than quintessential New England. With some creative set dressing and shooting, Connecticut has stood in for places ranging from the desert to downtown Harlem.
On Sunday, I thoroughly enjoyed the open and honest discussion at the Realizing the Creative Vision On Screen panel with Director Indy Saini, Director Lynda Reiss, Producer Steven Robert Kozlowski, Cinematographer Paul Robinson and Writer/Director/Actor Sashia Dumon. I was especially impressed with the production values the talented Go Guerilla Film Cast, husband and wife team, Paul and Sashia, were able to achieve with their short film Amber.
The Mystic Film Festival was well worth the scenic Autumn drive to attend. I can’t wait until next year!
