July 27th was go time for the annual 48 Hour Film Project New Haven. Our Wilkidoos team spent Friday night writing for our randomly assigned genre (musical), character (Dr. Kent Redding, Podiatrist) played by George Lombardo, prop (matches) and line of dialogue (“In the still of the night”). We shot everything in a fun-filled day, leaving our cinemetographer/editor Julian Liby to edit it down to seven minutes, while Grace-Mary Burega scored it.
It was awesome to see our film premier at the historic Bijou Theater in Bridgeport. I also had a blast on stage repping our film/team in the filmmaker Question and Answer session. The annual 48 Hour Film Project brings out all levels of filmmakers. Some teams used international crew to take advantage of the full 48 hours. My favorite entry was a silent film with a great score and a hilarious foot infection gag.
We pulled off a humorous short in record time. I’m hoping we pull an easier category next year.
